After years of meticulous design, Nan Models proudly presents its latest creation in the world of F5J competition gliders: the Challenger. Known for their commitment to precision, quality, and performance, Nan Models has once again delivered a glider that sets new benchmarks in the sport.
Build quality
For decades, Nan Models producing world-class RC gliders and the Challenger builds on this proud heritage. Owners of previous Nan Models aircraft will immediately recognize the company’s signature quality, combining cutting-edge technology with attention to detail.
The wing construction uses Solid Core Technology with Rochacell, ensuring durability, light weight, and optimal rigidity. This advanced material provides a stable structure while keeping the glider’s overall weight low for peak performance. Finally, the aluminum molds used in the production process provide the model with a smooth and shiny finish.
Another factor NAN Models carefully considers in the design of its gliders is ensuring that the model is designed to make it easy for pilots to install the electronic parts (servos, motor, etc.). For pilots who wish to save time or are less familiar with installing such mechanisms, our build service is always available, allowing you to save both time and effort.
Performance
The Challenger is designed to meet the full spectrum of F5J flight demands, delivering outstanding performance in every condition (a try will convince you). Its aerodynamic design ensures fast climbs in thermals, allowing pilots to gain altitude easily, while its ability to work with weak thermals enables extended flight durations, even in challenging weather. The model excels in tight turns at low altitudes, making it a master at staying locked into thermals for optimal lift. Moreover, its great wind penetration ensures that it maintains momentum even against headwinds, sustaining its high performance even under such weather conditions.
Special emphasis has been placed on the stall behavior, with the Challenger designed to stall as gently and slowly as possible. This minimizes altitude loss during piloting errors and offers a forgiving flight experience, giving pilots the confidence to push their limits.
The new tail further enhances performance, reducing drag while providing a boost of energy during maneuvers. Working in perfect harmony with the rest of the airframe, it delivers a balance of stability and agility, making the Challenger a true joy to fly. Needless to say, the easiest tail assembly and disassembly system remains a feature of the glider, just as it was in previous NAN Models designs.
Transportation
Transporting large gliders is often a challenge, but Nan Models has once again delivered a solution with the Challenger. The four-piece wing and three-piece fuselage make assembly and disassembly quick and efficient, while ensuring excellent portability. Whether heading to a local field or traveling for a competition, the modular design minimizes hassle without compromising structural integrity or performance. The longest part of the model is the tail boom with length 115cm. One last thing to highlight is that the Τravel Βox is already now available in version for 3 models, making transportation even easier and safer.
