Vortex 5 DLG

Elite DLG Performance. Precision Engineering. Exceptional Control.
The DS Composites Vortex 5 is a highly refined discus launch glider (DLG) designed for pilots who demand exceptional launch height, efficient thermal performance and precise control.
With its four-control-surface wing, low-drag carbon construction and outstanding aerodynamic finish, the Vortex 5 delivers the performance and sophistication expected from a top-level competition DLG.

Four-Surface Wing for Maximum Control
The Vortex 5’s separate ailerons and flaps provide greater control authority than a conventional flaperon setup.

This gives the pilot:
• Greater manoeuvrability in thermal turns
• Precise control across different flight modes
• Reduced control-surface drag
• Optimised camber for different flying conditions
• Crow braking for controlled approaches and accurate landings

The crow function is particularly valuable during landing, giving the pilot excellent control over speed and glide path. It makes those final approaches more predictable and can help reduce the risk of missed catches and the damage that can follow.

Outstanding Launch & Glide Performance
Every aspect of the Vortex 5 has been developed around aerodynamic efficiency.
Its thoroughbred low-drag design, perfectly moulded carbon components and excellent surface finish combine to produce impressive launch and glide performance.
Launch heights of up to approximately 80 metres are achievable, while the highly efficient airframe provides an excellent glide angle for searching out and exploiting thermals.

Exceptional Carbon Construction
The Vortex 5 is built to an extremely high standard, with the excellent build quality and engineering associated with DS Composites.
The perfectly moulded carbon components provide a rigid, lightweight and aerodynamically clean airframe, while the carefully engineered systems make the model straightforward to assemble and operate.

Automatic Aileron Connection
One of the Vortex 5’s standout features is its automatic aileron connection system.
When the wing is fitted to the fuselage, the aileron controls connect automatically. This clever engineering eliminates the need to manually connect the aileron linkages every time the model is assembled.
It’s a small detail that makes a big difference — particularly for pilots who regularly travel with their DLG.

Easy Transport & Storage
The Vortex 5 is designed with portability in mind.
• Two-piece wings
• Removable tailplanes
• Removable fins
The result is a high-performance competition model that is also practical to transport and store.

Four-Servo Flaperon Version Available
For pilots who prefer simplicity, lower weight and a straightforward setup, we also offer the four-servo flaperon version.
This configuration provides an excellent alternative to the four-surface wing while retaining the outstanding performance and build quality of the Vortex 5.

Complete Accessory Package
The Vortex 5 comes with a complete accessory bag containing all the components required to complete the model.
Two tail-servo trays are included and are designed to accommodate:
• MKS HS75K
• MKS HV70
• KST X06
• KST A06
• CHA HV06
• CHA LV06

Why Choose the Vortex 5?
The Vortex 5 brings together the qualities that serious DLG pilots look for: low weight, low drag, exceptional launch performance, precise control and outstanding engineering.
Whether you’re chasing maximum launch height, working light thermals or looking for greater control on landing, the Vortex 5 provides a sophisticated and highly capable platform for demanding DLG flying.

The Vortex 5 is built for pilots who want to extract every metre from the launch and every second from the thermal.
